Support a Reader

Listening to children read and helping them with class tasks or participating in games is a great way to support their learning and development.

On Thursdays between 9:30am - 10:30am volunteers from East Devonport and Rotary Club North, meet at East Devonport Primary School.

We help to complete set class tasks and/or participate in games.

Conversations happen and over time, confidence builds and relationships strengthen.

The engagement of mentors and children is evident, names are learnt and the feedback not only suggests reading skills are improving but there is real excitement as we arrive.

This last week after reading and a puzzle, mentors and students attempted folding paper to make chatterboxes.

If you would like to be involved, the only requirement is to have a Working with Vulnerable People Card. Please reach out to us via our contact page for more details.
